Why? Oh Why? Do We Really Need Another Blog?

It all began when I blew out the candles on my 40th birthday.  Call it a midlife crisis or just a kick in the pants, but since then I’ve had a renewed vigor to figure out why I was placed on this planet. From my halfway-through-life vantage point, it appeared that I had been blessed beyond what I deserved and I wasn’t doing much with that gift.

I’m 45 now and a lot has changed since that day of aged reflection.  I’ve been on a journey of trial and error, yes and no, a little bit of this and a whole lot of that. I’m using this slice of the interweb to share my findings.

I’ve been married for 25 years this May and I’m still madly in love with the guy titled “husband” {also answers to Drew}.  Together we have 4 kids that survived infancy, toddlerhood, preschool, primary school and the stereotypically dreaded tween years all under our care.  They’ve all since moved on to teenager, while a couple are dabbling in semi-adulthood. All this to say, we’ve learned a few things in our 21 years as parents and I’ll no doubt be sharing some insights.

In addition, one to the biggest influences in my 5 year journey to “finding myself” I joined an accountability group.  This self proclaimed lazy lady needed some help if I was ever going to fully use my gifts and talents, because complacency had become my comfortable MO for far too long. My gradual shift from lazy to go-getter and all the ways I uncomfortably transitioned will also be discussed.

Finally, the one thing I would be remiss if I didn’t share was the biggest visible change that occured over the last 5 years.  I went on a rampage, a deep dive, a call-it-what-you-will effort to simplify my life in order to make room for all these mid-life adjustments.  One of the results is our little house in the expansive woods we call home. Oh the things I’ve learned while peeling away our excess. I must share.  It’s far too good to keep to myself.

From time to time, a few guest bloggers will pop in here with some added insights. You won’t want to miss it. I’m already giddy with a few in the line up.

I hope you’ll join me here each week and leave a comment or email me.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on anything I write about. I’d sure hate for this to just be a space where I go on and on and on, yet never hear your thoughts! You make me a better person, I already know it.

Thanks for stopping by. Don’t be a stranger.
